SAIGON-SUR-MARNE

Aude Ha Leplège | 2019 | France | 14’ | Animation

Between two household chores, an old couple tells their grand-daughter their life story between Vietnam and France, during the war. From the time they met at the age of 20 to the present day: they recount the major stages of their relationship, talking about exile and immigration, sometimes with humor, sometimes with a heavy heart.

Aude Ha Leplège was born in 1990, in Paris. Deeply interested in her family story between France and Vietnam, she flew to Vietnam in 2014 after graduating from l’École de la Poudrière. Discovering a country she had heard a lot about but had never seen, she came back with a short-film project: Saigon-sur-Marne. She moved to Brussels to make this film, and she still lives and works in Belgium to this day.
