Three young Vietnamese-German artists introduce a part of their history and community in performances and autofictional interviews. Paris by Night adopts elements of the variety show of the same name, a key program for the cultural production and the creation of the identity of the Vietnamese diaspora since the 1980s. The diaspora becomes tangible, and the boundaries between time, language and space, biography, fiction and performance dissolve.
Hai Anh Trieu is a German filmmaker and performance artist living in Berlin. As a child of Vietnamese workers in Czechoslovakia and later refugees in reunified Germany, her work focuses on diasporic experiences and transgenerational family dynamics and structures. She is particularly interested in examining the conditions of production of her own work from a critical and anti-decolonial perspective and integrating them into the creative process.
