When Frédéric Bayer Azem discovers John Ford's The Cheyenne, it leaves a lasting impression on him, and a deep desire to go into the film industry. To earn a living, he continues to work in a factory and combines odd jobs. At the same time, he begins to write his first screenplay, The Strings, which will be produced by the G.R.E.C., soon followed by Pan, shot in a hurry, in full self-production. He meets Charlotte Vincent who will produce Geronimo, obtaining the special mention of the jury of the press at the Festival Côtécourt of Pantin. Les Vendéennes is another film he shot without any fundings. He also acts, notably in Les Rencontres d'après minuit by Yann Gonzalez.
