In 2011, for the first time in her life, a woman discovers the country of her ancestors. To what extent are we tourists in a country that is not completely foreign to us? What is left to share with her distant family when daily life has never been lived together?
Tuong Vi Nguyen Long was born in France at the end of the 70s to Vietnamese parents. After graduating, she works in the film industry as an assistant editor and then as an editor. In the summer of 2011, she goes on a trip to Vietnam, accompanying her mother on her personal journey to walk on the land of her ancestors for the first time. This trip gives her the opportunity to make her first documentary, Back to the Land, winning the Jury Prize at the Family Film Festival in Saint-Ouen. Since then, other projects have seen the light of day. Her next documentary And There was Work is about the impact of the digital revolution in the world of work, between France and Vietnam.
