IT WILL BE A DISCONCERTED DAY IN A STARLESS MOONLESS NIGHT
Red Nguyen Hai Yen | 2021 | Vietnam | 8’ | Experimental

This dance film was inspired by the story of an old jacket in Saigon upon which the flow of time can be read. It is a landscape fantasized by a sleepwalker, sleeping twins, a sleeping chicken, a woman and a mirror whose every gesture contains a myth. A paper horse as a wish fulfilled could manifest itself. Or not. The stage is set.
Red is a Vietnam-based moving image artist and independent art producer. Her practice focuses on personal landscapes in a multidisciplinary approach that addresses the shifting boundaries between different art forms - fiction and documentary, life and death, human and animal, living beings and spirits... Since 2021, she co-directs MORUA - an artist residency program based in Hoi An aiming to create a dedicated space and time for the new generation of performers and interdisciplinary art practitioners to develop their works by researching and exchanging their methods of body movement.
