Brother and sister, Fabien and Sophie were born in France to Vietnamese parents in the late 80s. Passionate about cinema since their childhood, they both graduated with a Master's degree in cinema. Sophie now works as an assistant director on animated films, while Fabien is a cameraman on documentaries, music videos, and short fiction films. Wanting to bring their skills together and expand their respective visions, Fabien and Sophie decided to co-write and co-direct Before the meal which stars their own father, a first film between fiction and documentary.
